Blocking a landing
In summer 1940, Pegwell Bay was fortified against a possible invasion after the evacuation from Dunkirk. Concrete obstacles were intended to delay vehicles coming ashore, while a pillbox provided a protected position for guns.
Historic England records a group of 61 low blocks, roughly 300 concrete cylinders and a Type 24 pillbox. Some obstacles stand on the saltmarsh; others are beside a cycle route. The listing protects a spread of structures rather than one visitor building.

A public landscape with restricted areas
Pegwell Bay Country Park has surfaced paths and connections to the coastal path. These provide a lawful way to visit the wider landscape. They do not give access to every wartime remain.
Kent Wildlife Trust restricts access to the saltmarsh and mudflats to protect wildlife. Follow designated routes and current signs, and do not cross restricted ground to reach concrete cylinders. We have not checked sightlines, surfaces or the pillbox in person.
