Measuring visits is optional

If you accept analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit, which pages they read and which websites bring them here. Google receives a browser identifier, the pages visited, information about the visit, device details and an approximate location from the connection.

Google uses your IP address to provide the service, but says it does not log or store individual IP addresses in Google Analytics 4. We do not send names, email addresses, search text or entered postcodes to Analytics. We also leave out the extra information that can appear after a question mark in a page address.

Advertising features and Google signals are switched off. Automatic tracking of searches, forms, videos and clicks on links to other websites is also disabled.

You can change your mind

Google Analytics does not load until you accept. If you reject it, it stays off. Use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to change your choice.

Turning analytics off stops future tracking and removes the site’s Google Analytics cookies that we can access. It does not delete information already collected.

How long we remember your choice

We save your choice in your browser for up to 180 days. Clearing your browser’s stored site data removes that preference.

If you accept analytics, cookies called _ga and _ga_… help distinguish browsers and visits. Our installation gives them a maximum lifetime of 180 days.

Other services

Our hosting service handles the requests needed to deliver and protect the website. The map loads images from the provider credited on it. Postcode search sends the postcode you enter to Postcodes.io.

Those requests share connection information with the relevant provider. They are separate from Google Analytics and work even when you reject analytics cookies.
